This week we installed the backerboard and I had a bit of trouble with the cement grout. But, with that in the past, we were ready to build a mold and pour some concrete! Or so we thought…

Turns out, when I have an instinct that something’s not right, it’s not right.

When I stood on the backer board (particularly around the edges), the thing moved. Not good. If that thing moves with 300+ pounds of concrete on it, it could crack the concrete. See? Not good.

So, before we could pour the concrete, we had to fix the backer board. This fix was fairly simple. First, I mixed more grout.

Then I shoved it in the gaps.

Now we’re ready to build our mold!
